The position at a glance
The RISK function of BNP Paribas constitutes the Second Line of Defense of the Bank. It aims at independently reviewing, assessing, challenging and communicating on the level of risk generated by the various business lines and activities within the Group. The Operational Risk Intern will support RISK ORM Canada in its oversight of all the BNP Paribas activities based in Canada (i.e. for both the local client activity and the shared services ones), with the key objective of supporting CIB and RISK Senior Management with a comprehensive, transparent, exhaustive and consistent view of Operational Risk Management topics across the territory.
In detail
- New intern will be expected to become familiar with the relevant operational risk management policies and procedures and assist in performing second-line-of-defense effective challenge activities on Risk and Controls Self-Assessment (RCSA), control results and Key Risk Indicators (KRI)
- Support several ongoing projects aiming at creating efficiencies in the preparation of reporting quantitative and qualitative views to Senior Management with regards to:
- Overall operational risk framework: Incident Management, Independent testing results, Data risk management, Third Party Risk Management, Anti-Fraud, etc…
- Internal Control Committees for Canada (ICC) and other committees
The strengths and skills that will help you succeed
- Student completing their Bachelor’s degree in the following fields: Commerce, Finance, Computer Science or Economics.
- Knowledge in Data visualization tool (PowerBI, Tableau) or coding language is a plus (Sas, VBA)
- Experience working with cross functional and multi – cultural teams strongly preferred
- Keen interest in following the evolving banking industry trends
- Developed oral and written communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
- Given the vast majority of our clients, both internal and external, are based outside of Quebec and Canada, specific language requirements may apply. Knowledge of English is required
